This may be the explanation of why, despite your best efforts, it is so difficult to lose weight.

Previous research had already linked red meat consumption and obesity products, but researchers often attributed the effect to fat content.

But according to a new study from the University of Adelaide (Australia), protein found in animal products may alter waist circumference and lead to type 2 diabetes.


This is because meat protein is digested after fat and carbohydrates.

Thus, the energy it brings is considered a "bonus" which, because it is not necessary, is then stored in the belly.

To conclude, the researchers investigated the correlation between meat consumption and obesity rates in 170 countries.


After adjusting economic parameters, daily calorie intake and physical activity levels, sugar and meat availability were blamed for the global obesity epidemic.

According to one of the study's authors, Professor Maciej Henneberg, this is enough to require meat packaging to bring a warning about the risk.
