I love an exhibition. Even closer to home. At the Brazilian House Museum, here in Jardim Paulistano (São Paulo), this Tuesday begins the architecture show “Harry Seidler: architecture, art and collaborative design”.
With the importance it deserves, our São Paulo is the first stop of this mega exhibition in South America. The traveling exhibition, which opens this Tuesday, February 11 at the Brazilian House Museum, celebrates the 90th anniversary of the important architect (pictured with Walter Gropius), has passed through Estonia, Bulgaria, Canada, and the United States.
Now it's time to take a close look at this rich collection, such as architectural models, drawings and sketches, as well as models of sculptures, photographs, films and personal documents by Harry Seidler who, for his groundbreaking projects, are considered the Australian Oscar Niemeyer. . Comparison is not free. In addition to the architect's famous projects in Australia and abroad, documents and images were added about the proximity between Seidler and Oscar Niemeyer, revealing the influence of the master, whom he met while working in Brazil.
“For a few months in 1948, I worked with Niemeyer and observed his creative process, which seemed to me similar to that of a painter or sculptor. Traits, intuitive gestures, ideas presented in a way that afflicts minds accustomed to rationalistic projects. But the suspicion soon disappears when one later realizes how fundamentally unassailable is the inherent logic, clarity, and structural and constructive plausibility of everything. Niemeyer's talent is born, and is a unique part of the Brazilian climate, spirit and imagination, ”said Harry Seidler (1923-2006).
After São Paulo, the show goes to Rio de Janeiro and Vitória, before reaching Sydney and Vienna (Austria). The tip is to make the most of it while you are here, participating in the guided tours, scheduled for 12/02 and 19/03. The scheduling is free, by phone (11) 3032 2499 or firstname.lastname@example.org. We will?
