The research was done in partnership between the universities of Chicago (United States) and Monash (Australia).
To gather the information, the researchers decided to focus on what everyone has in common.

To reveal global sleep patterns, the researchers analyzed a trillion online activities.
They looked at how many times gadgets in 600 cities around the world connected and disconnected from the internet.
These data were recorded every 15 minutes over seven years.

Europe has shown to be sleeping less.
And East Asia is sleeping longer.
More specifically, in terms of sleeping more, the study determined a ranking among countries.
The three countries that sleep the most are Argentina (10 hours and 16 minutes), Spain (9 hours and 58 minutes) and Ukraine (9 hours and 50 minutes).
On average, across the Rio de la Plata, Argentines lie down at 10:29 pm to get up at 8:44.
Top 5 are Turkey (9 hours and 46 minutes) and Mexico (9 hours and 45 minutes).

The countries with the shortest time between sheets are Japan (7 hours and 16 minutes), Slovenia (7 hours and 28 minutes) and Suriname (7 hours and 55 minutes).
